The president of the Spanish federation apologizes for kissing Jenni Hermoso on the lips

After the president’s attitude had a negative effect, he apologized to the public and the athlete

The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, RFEF, Luis Rubialesshe apologized after kissing Jenni Hermoso on the lips during the Women’s World Cup celebration in Spain.

Rubiales’ attitude was heavily criticized on the internet and got worse after Hermoso said he didn’t like the attitude. After the controversy, the president manifested himself in a video published by the RFEF.

“Certainly I was wrong, I have to admit. It was without bad faith at a time of maximum outpouring. Here (in Spain) we saw it of course, but abroad (the country) there was a stir. I must apologise, learn from that and you understand that, when you are president, you have to be more careful.”

Before the official apology, Rubiales told “Rádio Marca” that the kiss was a gesture of affection. “The kiss with Jenni? There are idiots everywhere. When two people have a little moment of affection, we can’t listen to idiots. We are champions and I take it.”

The apology was issued after Spanish Culture and Sport Minister Miquel Iceta described Rubiales’ actions as “unacceptable”.

Even the ministers of Spain, Irene Montero, of equality, and Ione Belarra, of social rights, have criticized the attitude of the president of the federation. Through Twitter, they repudiated the act and supported Hermoso.
