Islam Slimani arrives in Coritiba and is greeted with a party at the airport

Algerian striker Islam Slimani arrived in Curitiba on Wednesday to finalize the deal with Coxa Branca. Upon his arrival, the player was surrounded by team fans, ready to receive the new Coritiba reinforcement.




Algerian idol, Slimani has already worn the club shirt and displayed banners for Coxa fans at the airport. Shortly before leaving for the capital of Paraná, the official profile of Coritiba published a video of the athlete already in uniform and saying: “See you soon.”

With a wealth of experience in European football, Slimani played for Sporting, Leicester City, Newcastle, Fenerbahçe, Monaco, Lyon and finally Anderlecht. In 2014, the striker played in the World Cup, in Brazil, and ensured his country’s qualification for the last 16 when he scored the equalizer against Russia, in the last round of the group stage.

In total, two goals were scored in four duels in that World Cup. For the Algerian national team, there were 94 games played and 44 goals scored, as well as winning the African Cup of Nations in 2019.
