The Lord of the Rings delayed: the new animated film will arrive 8 months late

This is not the same situation as at the height of the Covid pandemic, but in some respects it looks like it. Starting with the studio’s release schedule being pushed upside down by one delay, leading to a few, such as the evening guests, following the lead that released the Caterpillar.

After Disney and Marvel Studios, then Sony, which refused to release its big films in 2023 (Kraven, Ghostbusters), it’s Warner’s turn to take action against the writers’ and actors’ strike that paralyzed Hollywood for months: Dune 2. Thus, it has been delayed from November 2023 to March 2024, affecting in particular the animated film The Lord of the Rings.

Centered on a battle that took place 250 years before the events of Peter Jackson’s films and most notably the creation of Helm’s Deep, War of the Rohirrim was due to hit our cinemas on 10th April 2024. A place in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire that left its own dune. And it’s now scheduled for December 2024: the 13th in the US and probably the 11th here.

Miranda Otto takes on the role of Éowyn, which she had in flesh and blood in Peter Jackson’s trilogy. Brian Cox lends his voice to Helm Hammerdand. And the first images of Kenji Kamiyama’s (Hirune Haimei) film, which was presented at the recent Annecy festival, generated a lot of enthusiasm in June.

But we’ll have to be a little more patient, even if this delay could benefit the film: when they are released in mid-December, they will be in the same place as Peter Jackson’s films (Lord of the Rings and The Rings). The Hobbit), which did well at the box office. Are we doing it again for Christmas 2024?
