Selena Gomez has released the video for “Single Soon”, a danceable song in which she makes it clear that she is single and ready to have fun. The video directed by Philip Andelman (“Billie Bossa Nova”) shows the artist as she enjoys a night out with her friends, emphasizing that she won’t spend another moment worrying about her boyfriends or of ex boyfriends. Instead, she will choose a sparkling minidress, go out with her friends and dance the night away toasting her freedom.
“I choose this dress / I try on these shoes / ‘Cause I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon,” sings the eternal youth, now 31, in the seductive and lively song. Plus, a voicemail from her sister confirms everything she needs to know: “I love you, sis. Never worry about boyfriends, absolutely not.”
The song with irresistible retro-pop charm is produced by Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat. Among Blanco’s notable works are the hits “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber, “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry and “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa. Among Cashmere Cat’s notable hits are “Adore” with Ariana Grande and “Wolves” with Kanye West.
Here comes a new album
Gomez announced her musical comeback last week when she revealed plans to release “Single Soon” to keep fans entertained as she completes her upcoming studio album. “You’ve been asking for new music for a while,” she wrote on Instagram. “Since I haven’t finished SG3 yet, I wanted to post a fun song that I wrote a while ago that is perfect for late summer.”
After releasing the album ‘Rare’ in 2020, Gomez followed up with her Spanish-language album ‘Revelación’ which received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album in 2022. And although she hasn’t dedicated herself to new songs of her own , teamed up with Rema last year for their No. 1 hit. 1 “Calm Down”, which recently went triple platinum. Also, she recorded the third season of “Only Murders in the Building” which is a streaming hit.
