During the heat wave, between August 21 and 25, 2023, the highest temperature recorded by the National Institute of Meteorology was 41.8°C in Cuiabá on 08/23/23

Only Cuiabá, the capital of Mato Grosso, recorded more than 40°C for three consecutive days: 22/8 40.8°C, 23/8 41.8 and 24/8 40.8°C

Goiânia: 37.2°C (conv!! maximum in August from 08/25/2015 when it was 37.5°C; on 08/18/2020 it was 37.1°C)

Hellish dawn in Rio de Janeiro

The heat was really impressive in the Copacabana region, a neighborhood in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro, in the early hours of 08/24/23. The Fort Copacabana weather station recorded temperatures between 28°C and nearly 33°C, from 00:00 to 6:00. The temperature was almost always above 30°C. This is one of the worst situations for humans during heat waves, i.e. excessive heat at night, which does not allow the body to cool down naturally.

In the city of Rio de Janeiro, the temperature that day reached 38.7°C, in Marambaia, just 0.1°C lower than the 2023 heat record.

The city of Silva Jardim recorded today the record temperature of 39.3°C in 2023 and among the 10 highest in Brazil on 08/24/23
