For the first time in their careers, Gerard Lanvin and Benoit Poelvorde reunited on the screen. Alongside them, Jose Garcia plays the antagonist – and almost steals the show. In addition to this prestigious headliner, ball It also relies on basic resources (budget is about 27 million euros!): natural scenery, helicopters, waterfalls and explosions are the order of the day.
The film is co-directed by Alain Berberian (City of Fear), who directed parts shot in Morocco and Tunisia, and Frédéric Forestier, who handled the scenes in Paris. Among them, the incredible scene of the Ferris wheel in the Place de la Concorde during the chase of Gerard Lanvin and the policeman. We see the Ferris wheel come loose from its axis, spin across the Tuileries Garden, then fall to the ground.
This series, which cost only 2.4 million euros, contains 150 shots, including 70 with special effects – a total of one month of work. A few shots actually shot at the Place de la Concorde were added to the model, building reconstruction and wheel animation in 3D, overseen by special effects director Christian Guyon.
Released in 2002, this explosive cocktail of crazy situations and funny dialogues gathered more than 3 million viewers in theaters.
