Actress and presenter Xuxa Meneghel had the details of her role in the “Tarã” series revealed by the newspaper O Globo. She this time she will not be queen, princess or fairy. Upon her return to acting, after a hiatus of nearly a decade, she will play a pharmacist working in the herbal medicine industry.
Her character is also the mother of the protagonist, a 14-year-old girl descended from the natives of the Amazon.
In the Disney + production, Xuxa’s character went to the Amazon to do some professional research and ended up getting involved with a local resident, but after becoming pregnant, she decided to return to Rio de Janeiro and raise her daughter alone.
But when the girl menstruates for the first time, she receives a call from her people to return to the tribe, which is located on the border with Peru. That’s where the story unfolds.
Despite many elements of fantasy, “Tarã” will deal with relevant themes, such as fires, forest devastation and invasion of indigenous lands.
The screenplay is by Anna Lee (“Iron Island”) and the direction of the eight episodes will be shared by two horror specialists, Marco Dutra and Juliana Rojas (partner of “Work Cansa” and “As Boas Maneiras”).
The rest of the cast is yet to start production in July, on location in Rio and Acre.
