Peter Rice, exiled Disney executive, sends farewell message to his team Hollywood reporter.
Rice, who normally sends out weekly notes to employees in celebration across Disney, submitted her latest assignment to the company on Thursday. On Monday, CEO Bob Chapek fired Rice as president of entertainment and programs, the sources say. THRDana Walden took responsibility.
which THR Rice was previously briefed on the decision during a seven-minute meeting with Chapek on Monday night, who told the former president of 21st Century Fox that he didn’t fit in with “Disney’s new culture,” according to the sources.
Disney shares tumbled nearly 4 percent on Thursday as the world learned of the decision, with a media chief calling Rice’s speech a “huge mistake”.
The full memo is below.
Hello everybody:
I am very sorry that this is the last “weekend blog” I will send you. It has been a great pleasure and privilege to work with each of you at Disney and with many of you at 21st Century Fox.
I’m very proud of the work we’ve done together, the friendship we’ve built and the continued success we’ve celebrated. We are honored to work in the largest and most creative industry in the world at a time of tremendous change. In the midst of this, we have created amazing, award-winning television shows and I am eternally grateful for your kindness and generosity on your journey.
As you leave Disney, you may have one last thought: Stay true to perfection and always recognize that our stories depend on the imagination and artistry of the writers, directors, producers, actors and artisans we call Disney. at home. It was a lot of fun working with them to implement their ideas.
So until I no longer walk by your side, I wish you happy paths and hope our paths cross again.
With pleasure and gratitude,
Pedro
