American singer-songwriter and businessman James William Buffett, known for his tropical rock music, including the 1977 hit “Margaritaville,” died Friday at age 76 of skin cancer diagnosed in 2019.
But he is also remembered for his legendary cameo in Colin Trevorrow’s 2015 film Jurassic World, in which he is seen running with two margaritas in hand during an attack scene of pteranodons and dimorphodons that violently attack park visitors. This appearance, when he tries to save his two drinks, is especially funny because he is the creator and owner of the actual chain of Margaritaville restaurants featured in the film – and is destroyed along with the other characters in the film. Park!

Other notable films include a small role in Steven Spielberg’s 1991 Hook or The Revenge of Captain Hook, in which he played a pirate opposite Robin Williams’ Peter Pan, and Frank Marshall’s adventure film Congo, in which he played a pilot in 1995. On television, we saw him in a recurring role on Hawaii Five-0, among other things.
