Confirming fan theories, Marvel Studios will also make a movie about the Thunderbolts, a group of supervillains who have already had characters featured in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) productions.

American website Deadline has learned that director Jake Schreier has signed a contract to direct the production, written by Eric Pearson, screenwriter of “Black Widow”.

Schreier is best known as a series director (“Kidding”, “Lodge 49” and “Cherry Flavor Revenge”) and also for directing music videos (by Benny Blanco, Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper), but he started his career signing two feature films (“Frank and the Robot and” Paper Towns “) in 2012 and 2015.

The project was considered classified at Marvel, so the only information available on the plot is the comics.

In publications, the Thunderbolts came together at the initiative of Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl in the MCU).

The group presents itself as superheroes, but in reality it is made up of supervillains, in disguise who hide their true identities. They show up to do great rescues and heroic acts only when it suits them.

In addition to Zemo, the group has had cameos from Absorbing Man, Crossbones, Bullseye, Ghost, Venom, Swordsman, Radioactive Man, Taskmaster, Batroc, Moondragon and some ambivalent superheroes like Black Widow, Winter Soldier., Hawkeye, Luke Cage, Moon Knight. , Punisher, Ghost Rider, Elektra, Deadpool and members of the Inhumans – among many others. The vast majority of these characters have already appeared in live-action in the MCU.

According to Deadline, Marvel has already contacted some performers who are part of the MCU to make sure they were available to reprise their roles in the production.

It is worth remembering what the fan theory is: the Thunderbolts would be the group formed by Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss), who has already recruited the new Black Widow (Florence Pugh) and the American agent (Wyatt Russell ) in the movie “Black Widow” and in the series “Falcon and the Winter Soldier”.

Shooting is scheduled for just a year from now, in the North American summer (our winter) of 2023.
