The Equalizer 3 leads the US box office; see trailer

The Protector: Final Chapter, the long-awaited sequel to Denzel Washington’s franchise, hit theaters last weekend and has already topped the box office. According to data from ComScore, the film has raised $34.5 million since its debut on Friday (1).

The protector 3 brings Washington back to the role of ex-secret agent Robert McCall. Retired and living a quiet life in Italy, the character discovers that his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses, which leads him to incorporate his vigilante side and embark on a new fight, now against the Italian mafia.

The protector (2014) e The protector 2 (2018) together grossed nearly $385 million worldwide, bringing in a huge return for Sony Pictures given the modest investment.

The third and final sequel to the McCall story is expected to set franchise records. On Rotten Tomatoes the feature film has already achieved 77% approval, the best when compared to previous films.
