Home of the Dragon Season 2: The photo shoot heralds an epic battle

It is one of the rare series that has not seen its production halted due to a cast and writer strike. Production on Season 2 of House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones spin-off series, is nearing completion, and new on-set photos hint at a major battle.

The new footage was shared by Redanian Intelligence on Twitter and shows the scene being filmed in Bourne Woods, Surrey. According to media reports, the scene was supposed to be completed, leaving to be filmed for the Battle of Rook’s Rest (or Repos-des-Reux in French) in next season’s episode 4.

The shoot shown in these photos marks the completion of location photography for House of the Dragon Season 2. The shooting of the series is still left, but in the studio and should be completed in about a month. The second season of Dragon House is scheduled to air in 2024.

What is Battle of Rook’s Rest?

As we explained last July, the series could continue to be filmed in the UK because its actors – who are also from the UK – work under contract with a local trade union called Equity. The writers also finished the season script before the WGA strike.

Production is still in operation

“Filming for the second season of House of the Dragon began on April 11 and will continue in London and Wales” revealed George RR Martin, author of the books and co-creator of the series with Ryan Condall.

“The scripts for eight episodes of the second season were completed several months ago, before the strike. Each episode went through four or five versions and numerous edits to meet HBO ratings, my ratings, budget issues and more. There will be no further revisions. The screenwriters did their job; The rest is up to the directors, cast and crew…and of course the dragons– he concluded.
