The Breaking Bad actor reveals he’s not being paid to show the series on Netflix

Actor Aaron Paul, known for playing Jesse Pinkman in the series Breaking Bad, has revealed that he doesn’t receive “a penny” from Netflix for the rights to show the series on the platform. During a protest related to the Hollywood actors’ strike, Paul spoke out on the subject. The streaming giant has yet to comment.

“I don’t get a cut of Netflix’s profits from Breaking Bad, to be honest, and I think it’s crazy. I think a lot of these streaming services know very well that they don’t pay actors properly, and it’s about time we started paying.” Euronews.

Breaking Bad aired between 2008 and 2013, featuring the story of a chemistry teacher (played by actor Bryan Cranston) who becomes a drug dealer after receiving a cancer diagnosis.

Thanks to the success of the series, Paul won three Emmys for his performance as the protagonist’s right-hand man.

Netflix is the only streaming service where Breaking Bad is available in multiple regions, including Brazil. In addition, the platform also offers access to the spin-off Better Call Saul and the film El Camino, released in 2019.

The shutdown, in addition to halting the filming of many projects that have SAG-affiliated performers, will also prevent actors from attending press events for films that have already been inserted and are about to be released in theatres.

In addition, the situation is aggravated by the writers’ strike, which has been going on since May. As a result, most projects from studios large and small are expected to be completely stalled until new contracts are signed.

It is worth noting that the two unions have not gone on strike at the same time since 1960.
