Vitor Roque joins Tiquinho and could be the youngest goalscorer in history

The dispute for the artillery of the Brazilian championship begins to be fierce with the growth of Vitor Roque in the last rounds. Previously dominated by Tiquinho, the list already has Atletico’s jewel hot on the heels of the Botafogo striker. After all, the future Barcelona player scored three goals while Alvinegro was recovering from a left knee injury.

Today, therefore, Tiquinho has 13 goals against Roque’s 11. There are still 16 games left to go, but the Rossoneri number 9 could become the youngest goalscorer in the history of the competition, at just 18 years old. That is, he would leave names like Pelé and Dynamite.

But the holder of that record was Keirrison, who was 20 years and 5 days old at the end of the 2008 Brasileirão when he defended Coritiba. In turn, with the unification of other tournaments, in 2015, Santos Coutinho took over the brand, after all he was 19 years old in 1963.

Further apart, Deyverson (Cuiabá), Marcos Leonardo (Santos) and Paulinho (Atlético) totaled eight goals and ran from wide-field in the fight. Last year’s top scorer Cano scored “just” seven goals for Fluminense and shares the position with beasts like Atlético’s Hulk and Palmeiras’ Raphael Veiga.

THE YOUNGEST BRAZILIAN CAREERS

1963 – Coutinho – 19 years old – Santos

2008 – Keirrison – 20 years old – Coritiba

1974 – Roberto Dynamite – 20 years old – Vasco

1994 – Amoroso – 20 years – Guarani

1989 – Túlio – 20 years old – Goiás

1968 – Ferreti – 20 years – Botafogo (Brazilian Cup)

1963 – Ruiter – 20 years – Confiança-SE (Brazil Cup)

1961 – Pelé – 21 years – Santos (Brazilian Cup)

The question of age is interesting because, in general, the best scorers in the Brazilian league of the consecutive points era have experience. Some even veterans, like Romário, in 2001 (35 years) and 2005 (39 years). The median age, incidentally, is 28.8 years. If Tiquinho, at 32, confirms favoritism, Botafogo being the isolated leader of the competition, he would maintain this statistic.

The holder of the goalscoring record in a single season is Washington, who scored 34 times in 2004. However, they don’t have the best goal average. That’s because Baixinho scored 18 goals in 16 games in 2011, recording 1.16 per game. Since the slightly longer format of the Brasileirão was established in 1971, Muller has been the top scorer with the fewest goals: 10, in 1987, for São Paulo.
