During a blind date in a hotel, 23-year-old Nika Nikubin was found guilty of stabbing her partner during sex. She told the New York Post (via Yahoo ) that she thought she was Salma Hayek’s character in One Night in Hell, Robert Rodriguez’s 1996 film starring George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino.
A Texas student who reportedly suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder has detailed his state of mind weeks after a judge sentenced him to three years of probation for stabbing a “blind date” in the neck.
I was in a very manic state. I looked in the mirror and thought, “This actress is sexy.” I thought I was Salma Hayek from One Night in Hell, and I hallucinated that there was a snake on my shoulders.
He also thought he was in his homeland
Although his motive was initially revenge for the US drone strike that killed an Iranian commander, Nika Nikubin now claims that he was hallucinating in the middle of the attack and that he only mentioned it because he thought he was acting in an episode. TV series “Motherland” at the time when he was being interviewed.
“I was so far gone that even with handcuffs around me, I still thought I was a character. I thought I would have a police arrest scene… like a prison scene. When they gave me an interview, I thought I was a TV character. I thought I was Carrie from Homeland and imagined a camera behind me filming all these scenes.“

Nika Nikubin, who claims she was off medication at the time, said she didn’t realize what she had done until six weeks after she was locked in a prison cell.
During the trial, her lawyer spoke of a psychotic episode involving the young woman’s mental health, who told the judge that she was raped when she was 18 and did not realize how badly her mental health had deteriorated since then. He apologized to the victim, who said he forgave her.
After confessing to the crime, the judge sentenced Nika Nikubin to probation and house arrest, citing his mental health problems as the reason for avoiding prison.
