Apple TV+ has released its first trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters , a 10-episode series in Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise, a universe featuring kaiju-like monsters like Godzilla and King Kong.
As The Verge recalls, the series will pick up after the events of Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters (2019) and will follow two brothers in their father’s footsteps and explore their family’s connection to the secretive Monarch organization. Spanning multiple eras, their journey takes them to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by both Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell) and explores his involvement with the Monarch from the 1950s.
In the trailer, we can also find Bill Randa (John Goodman), who we saw in 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, accompanied by attacks from various giant beasts and a haunting soundtrack.
The show, which also stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Marie Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasovsky, will explore “the question of who the real monsters are” in a world where humanity tries to coexist with these titans, according to The Verge.
The next film in the franchise, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, will be released on April 10, 2024 in France.
Meanwhile, the first two episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will air globally on Apple TV+ on November 17, followed by one episode each week until January 12, 2024.
