With a mystical air, IZA opened the main stage on the last day of The Town, this Sunday (9/10), embodying Afrodhit, the deity conceived as the theme of her new album. And he chose recent songs from the album “Afrodhit” to open the show in a risky bet, since the repertoire of recently released work did not completely win over fans.
In an interview with Folha, Iza clarified that Afrodhit represents her rebirth, a theme also linked to her recent divorce. “I will dedicate [esse show] to all the women who feel reborn. The brightness may be dazzling, but it doesn’t turn off. We come back with everything,” she stressed.
Big names
Iza had the presence of MC Carol to give voice to the feminist “Fé nas Maluca”, a track from the new album, and the funk singer took the opportunity to include “Meu Namorado é Maior Otário”, which resonated with the audience. Likewise, rapper L7nnon took the stage to participate in “Fiu Fiu” and roused the audience with his 2022 hit, “Ai Preto.”
Finally, Djonga was present with “Sintoniza”, a song also taken from “Afrodhit”, whose highlight came from the screen, when he and IZA stopped in front of the “Fire on racists” sign, a moment applauded by the audience . public.
Covers and hits
The artist did not limit herself to her own catalogue. She sang “Tá Ok,” by Kevin O Chris and Dennis DJ, and she also paid homage to Beyoncé by incorporating American hits into the setlist, which generated comparisons between the two artists on social media.
But the best part of the show was the final part, which brought a selection of the singer’s hits, such as “Dona de Mim”, “Pesadão”, “Fé”, “Brisa” and “Ginga”.
The more favorable reception to the old repertoire and the special appearances ended up proving that, unlike Luísa Sonza, who also played several songs from a recently released album at The Town, IZA’s new repertoire was not so pleasant.
