Over the years, the La Rochelle Festival of Fiction has become an unmissable event for French and European television creation at the school.
After great discoveries last year, the festival returns this year with an edition that promises to be just as rich and diverse.
And this year is a bit special because it’s the twenty-fifth anniversary of the festival. In this regard, no less than 44 works will be presented in the official competition, including 25 French fiction, 10 European, 5 foreign French language works and 4 foreign short format.
At the end of the competition, the jury chaired by Audrey Fleureau, one of the most emblematic faces of French television, will award 16 prizes at the closing ceremony on Saturday September 16, 2023, including the best unit, the best series 52 minutes. And the best series is 26 minutes.
Fiction that you have to discover before someone
The traditional opening ceremony, hosted by Mathieu Madenian, will be marked by a presentation of the Prime Video series Killer Coaster and will kick off the competition.
On the unitary side, the public will be able to discover A la Joie, a romantic comedy in the period of Covid for Arte with Pablo Pauli. But that’s not all, as Arte also presents Les Enchantés, a film with Gregory Montel as a mentally retarded father who takes care of his six-year-old daughter alone. On the other hand, M6 presents La belle sparkle, a fiction with Bernard Campan and Mélanie Dutte about a young man with an autistic disorder who is obsessed with cooking. Among the 26-minute formats, festival goers will see Mère Indigne with Anne-Élisabeth Blato, Benoît Gênant Officiel with Artus or even the 3rd season of Parlement.
Non-competition previews and special sessions not to be missed
This new edition will clearly see the historic broadcasters TF1, France Télévisions, M6, Arte and Canal+ each offering a prime preview without competition as part of the event.
Thus, 66-5, the new court series from Canal +, created by Anne Landui, will be revealed to everyone. Same with Brigade Anonyme, M6 series with Eric Cantona. On TF1, the choice went to Eyes Wide Shut, an incest pairing with Muriel Robin and Guillaume Labbe. Under Control will be an arte political comedy with Leah Drucker.

But that’s not all. For its 25th anniversary, the festival will also offer a special event dedicated to the Un si grand soleil series. On Saturday, September 16 at 4:00 p.m. at La Coursive, Montpellier soap opera fans will be able to pose with their favorite stars on the red carpet of the artistic festival. The event will be attended by Tonya Kinzinger, Gaela Le Devehat, Aurore Delplace, Yvonne Beck, Bibi Tanga and Constantin Balsan.
