This Thursday, September 7, a Los Angeles court handed down the verdict in the case of Danny Masterson: convicted of two rapes committed in 2001 and 2003 in his Hollywood Hills, the actor was sentenced to 30 years in prison or the maximum sentence. Of the three applicants, the justice ruled in favor of two of them.
Mostly recognized for her role on That ’70s Show, the actress, an active member of the Church of Scientology, is now a registered sex offender. Following the verdict, the reactions of the three victims, dubbed Jane Doe, the equivalent of Madame X in the United States, were published by Deadline.
“What makes the situation even more dramatic is the defendant’s refusal to acknowledge the seriousness of his actions, not only to me, but to many others.,” laments the first of the three victims, named Jane Doe #1. He adds: “He didn’t feel an iota of remorse for the pain he caused me.”
In his letter, the complainant, also a Scientologist, explained that his mother had stopped all contact with him. He particularly criticizes her for involving Scientology in this case. “As far as I know, my mother is still alive, but she is no longer a part of my daily life because the accused raped her and I reported her to the police. Which is strictly forbidden in Scientology. It is considered a serious crime.”
The second appellant discusses specifically the consequences of the rape he suffered: “The long-term effects of rape are devastating because they silently rob us of all the daily efforts we make to find meaning in our lives.
Make no mistake: even though it was a long time ago, what you did to me, hurt me emotionally, mentally, and physically, still resonates and reverberates through my body in the form of bodily pain..”

The end of this trial was accompanied by a controversy between actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, two former partners of Danny Masterson in the TV series That ’70s Show.
Actors are notable for having written letters to the judge to defend the accused. The couple apologized on Ashton Kutcher’s official Instagram page via a 58-second video.
