Franck Gastambide and Malik Bentalha dreamed it up: Luc Besson’s reboot of the legendary saga that made Frédéric Diefenthal and Sammy Nasser famous. After convincing the producer, who is still signing the film, the dream came true. In this fifth installment (and the last to date), we follow the two new characters they now portray. in front of and behind the camera, Frank Gastambid Also making his third feature film after Les Kaïra and Pattaya.
- Want another TV tip tonight? We recommend this film as proof that Audrey Tautou’s career is not limited to Amelie Poulin.
Much to the dismay of Sylvain Maraud, a Parisian policeman and prominent pilot, he is transported to Marseilles, where the city’s mayor, ex-commissioner Guibert, who is not of one mind, calls on him to stop a group of dangerous robbers. His mission is to catch a “gang of Italians” who rob jewelry stores using powerful Ferraris. However, he is forced to team up with Eddie McLoof, dear Daniel’s nephew and the worst VTC driver in town. But only he has access to the famous white cab…
Just 20 years after the first film in the saga, Taxi 5 was released in cinemas in 2018, where it collected more than 3.6 million viewers. However, reviews are mixed, with some regretting the first films and talking about a disappointing sequel without much interest. For others, the feature film is funny, light, entertaining and unusual, which is a must-see.
Since then, we can find happiness in its crass and schoolboy humor, its off-the-wall characters, and its brutal chase and stunt sequences. A little extra: the return of the legendary Peugeot 407, Bernard Fars in the iconic role of Commissaire Guibert, who this time became the mayor, and Edouard Montute as Alain Tresor.
Either way, we recommend wearing your seat belts for this fast paced comedy!
