Soon, nothing will be the same for Vergil (Fred Biancone) in Un Si Grand Soleil. As his marriage to Alix (Nadia Fossier) nears, Virgil must deal with the involvement of Tom (Matteo Paitelli), a teenager he has taken under his wing, in the blue Buddha trade at the high school.
Knowing that he was in mortal danger, Virgil decided to hide Tom in a hideout. But Yannis discovers a trace of the teenager and the confrontation between the three men turns into a drama. and a nightmare for Virgil.
Faced with this extremely powerful narrative arc that leads to the departure of Virgil in a few episodes, Fred Bianconi returns to us during his five years at Un Si Grand Soleil, in the evolution of his character, until his death. Leah rocked the streak in 2020 and what’s in store for Virgil in the coming days.
Will he be willing to make any sacrifice to save the tribe?
AlloCiné: Going back to the beginning of the Un Si Grand Soleil adventure, what attracted you to join the daily series?
Fred Bianconi : I was coming out of 7 seasons of Engrenages. There was no such big sun. They pitched me the character of Virgil and gave me about ten lines of development.
There was no script yet. It was very thin, and at the same time, I immediately felt that there was an opportunity to split personality in this character. And since I am a lover of adventures and group adventures, after a little hesitation I said to myself, “Let’s take it and then if I get bored, I’ll stop.”
The scripts did not bore me and the writers had incredible ideas around this character. In the end, I stayed there for five years, which is a long time.
I was lucky that the writers gave this character some pretty incredible twists. And then, the death of his daughter, which is definitely the most important event for the character and the most important for me as an actor.
Honestly, what they developed around Virgil’s lament was really good. They finished the treatment. We did a two-month shoot on this topic. It is very powerful that they have dared to deal with grief for so long.
It anchored the character in an enormous amount of empathy, but also for me the extreme richness of the game. Something powerful had to happen. People still stop me on the street to tell me that I have transferred. is strong It is rare.
We feel very proud that you have played the role of Virgil and that you are very attached to it…
I am very attached to Virgil. This character has all the elements of a fictional character. He’s loyal, he’s got a Robin Hood side to him, he’s got real inner heartache, he’s got a dual personality, like this straight man and this thug.
All the ingredients are there to build a character with a capital P. Since we are in the context of the everyday and time is on our side, there is a way to systematically add layers.
Well, I’m clearly attached, and leaving him remains heartbreaking. The word may be a bit strong, but it is a process. You don’t let go so easily.
Virgil has just taken a liking to Tommy, a troubled teenager whom he is desperate to get back on track. Unfortunately, Tom associates himself with the wrong people and quickly finds himself in mortal danger. How will Virgil help him?
Virgil does everything to save his loved ones. This guy has nothing to lose, he’s already lost everything. Therefore, the danger is less important for him. What motivates him is that he can help his loved ones out of trouble.
Tom arrives, he has no father, he is not well and in bad shape. The mindset of Virgil’s savior immediately emerges. Attachment especially since it is a child who is the age of his daughter. It concerns him.
Caring for this child activates what he is no longer, namely, the father. He really wants to help her get through this and he is 200% committed to the people he loves.
Despite everything, Tom is going to screw it up. From there he will go. Somewhere he still has some Thugocracy. Although this life is behind him, he is not afraid. Virgil is a character who is not afraid.
Tom and Virgil really developed a real father-son relationship. He had already lost his son, could Virgil do the irreparable to protect him?
Yes, of course. Virgil has already shot Gerald (Christophe Favre) and Kira (Colin Ramos-Pinto) in cold blood. This weapon exists. He has used it and is not afraid to use it again if necessary.
The situation will become very dramatic because Yanis will find Tom and will want to kill him. What can you tell us about what to expect in the next episodes of Un Si Grand Soleil?
Tom is in danger, yes. Virgil finds him hiding. Everything is going well until Yannis, a boy with a grudge against Tom, discovers the hideout and sets it on fire. Tom then calls Virgil. When he comes, everything is on fire. He is ready to leave, but he is shot.
He will believe that everything is ruined and will tell himself that he will experience hell again. Virgil is about to give up when Lea (Marte Fieschi) appears, telling him to “save me father”.
What’s going on in Virgil’s head is that there’s a moment of absolute happiness when he sees Leah again as if she was really there, and he’s going with the emotion. By the time he realizes he’s lost, he has nothing left to lose.
So he will do anything to save Tom from the fire. He tells himself that if he succeeds, so much the better. If he doesn’t succeed, he will die and find his daughter.
