Flamengo suffered an absence a few hours before kick-off of the Copa do Brasil final this Sunday against Sao Paulo. Goalkeeper Santos will not be available to coach Jorge Sampaoli after being “exempted from the game due to a family health problem”.
The club itself announced the athlete’s dismissal in the early afternoon. Santos started the season as Flamengo’s starter, but lost space with the change of manager.
In the Copa do Brasil final, the goalkeeper would start from the bench, while the starter Matheus Cunha would be in the starting eleven to face São Paulo, at the Maracanã, at 4pm (Brasilia time).
Without Santos, Flamengo should have Agustín Rossi as an immediate replacement in goal. The Argentine goalkeeper arrived at the Rossoneri club in July this year, after having played in Arab football.
