This year there has been a change and the finals will be played on Sunday
The Copa do Brasil final between Flamengo x São Paulo, played this Sunday afternoon (17), gave TV Globo a slightly smaller advantage than in 2022. The decision between Corinthians x Flamengo, last year, yielded two points in more to São Paolo and Rio de Janeiro. Tricolor defeated Rubro-Negro 1-0 at the Maracanã and next Sunday, the 24th, they will play for a draw to win the title.
This afternoon the broadcast hosted by Luis Roberto, Roger Flores and Ricardinho it averaged 26 points in Greater São Paulo and 29 in the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan region. As expected, the Rio broadcaster had a clear advantage in the schedule: the Band, for example, had less than one point with the Série B broadcast. The big highlight was Pará’s capital, Belém, which yielded an average of 35 points by the time the ball rolled into the Maracanã.
Naturally, not all of the audience at the match was focused on Globo, after all, in addition to Sportv, Amazon Prime Video also showed the decision of the national competition live.
The numbers were released by the Teleguiado portal, which showed data from Kantar Ibope Media, a company responsible for measuring the Brazilian television audience and which covers 13 metropolitan regions of the country, as well as the Federal District and the city of Manaus.
In 2022, the first match between Corinthians x Flamengo, played at the Neo Química Arena, in Sao Paulo, was also broadcast exclusively by Globo on Open TV. At the time the average was 28 points in Sao Paulo and 31 in Rio. The duel ended in a goalless draw, while in the second leg, after a 1-1 draw, Mengão were champions on penalties.
The decisive match of the previous edition took place at the Maracanã, and made history in terms of ratings, becoming the broadcaster’s most listened to program so far in 2022. There were 42 points on average in Rio and 35 in Sao Paulo .

For this year the CBF has changed the dates of the finals of the competition to two Sundays, unlike what happened until last year, when the matches took place on two Wednesday evenings. In this first moment the media did not increase the audience, on the contrary, they decreased it. It is important to point out that, historically, open television audiences tend to be much larger on Wednesday evenings than on Sunday afternoons.
