Philadelphia because he chose to pursue his aspirations for a career as a rapper in New York. As things progressed, some viewers criticized Tariq every week for his actions. However, her feelings about her aren’t necessarily those of series star and creator Quinta Brunson, as she has revealed why she doesn’t consider her character’s former villain.
The rift between the fictional childhood sweethearts was certainly one of the most memorable aspects of the sitcom’s first season finale of the workplace sitcom, which garnered high marks and helped cement the show as one of the best television sitcoms. Tariq’s departure from the show was ultimately quite refreshing, as it differed from many other romantic breakups that viewers were used to seeing on television. Relationships between men and women of color are not always seen in their best light and Quinta Brunson did not want to contribute to the “bad boy is a bad person” narrative. said the smart star Variety against the tide:
We have these black main characters and I saw an opportunity to make sure they were detailed and dimensional. You don’t see it very often. Yes, there have been other black shows, but not that many. So I don’t think Tariq is a villain. I think people grow up. Tariq is doing the best of him and we wanted to prove it too.
You have to understand that the multi-dash is aware of the depiction of black love on TV. Viewers often see the messy rift between the two sides and all the drama that goes with it. (Not all TV reports have to be like Lawrence and Issa during Insecure Seasons 1 and 2.) I’m glad the ABC sitcom’s huge success earned her another season. It is a rather significant achievement that is even more relativized when you consider that its creator almost completely abandoned television before landing on the series.
The growing entertainment phenomenon and its team are sure to have some special things planned for the next batch of episodes, which will air in the 2022-2023 season. And I’ll wait to see if Janine’s ex stays in New York or if she returns to Philadelphia sooner or later.
