Last Wednesday, September 13, Thomas Lilt’s new film Un Métier Serious hit theaters. After Hippocrates, the village doctor and the first year, this time it is the world of teaching that the famous screenwriter decided to perform.
To promote his new feature film, Allocine sat down with him on the podcast to discuss the highly anticipated Season 3 of Hippocrates, which began filming a few months ago in the Paris region.
A very special shoot because it was done in two parts: the first three episodes were released last spring, and the last three should go into production by the end of the year.
“Shooting at this pace is exceptional– he told Alocsene into the microphone. “For this season 3, we gave ourselves time. And this time is related to many things. Today it is difficult to mobilize those actors who were present from the first season and who have already become famous. You must fulfill all your schedules.”
As with previous seasons, Thomas Lilt writes and directs the six 52-minute episodes that make up this new season. So he also has to make time to work on scripts.
“We told ourselves that filming in two very different blocks would allow people to work, do other things, and not feel locked into the rhythm of the series, which sometimes hurts human relationships a little because we feel like we don’t have the freedom to do anything else..”
New addition to the team
Just like Season 2, which was marked by the arrival of the Bowl Lanes, but also Theo Navarro-Muss, who played Igor, this season will feature a new character. There is a big chance that he will be played by William Lebgill, who was announced at the casting. The latter has already starred under Thomas Lilt in 2018 for Premiere Année and this year in Un Métier Serious.
“will be new“- the director explained to our microphone. “It’s a bit like the idea of a soap opera. It’s nice to add something new every season. We also find all the cast members involved after the first season: Louise Burgoyne, Alice Bellaid, Karim Leclew, Zachary Chasserio And Bouli Lanners, as well as all the other actors we met in the series.”
The multitude of characters makes it even more difficult to write the scripts for Hippocrates Season 3. “You need to succeed in writing scores for everyone, and you need to have something interesting and motivating for everyone to play..”
“It’s a headache to succeed in the existence of all the characters, at the same time, it makes sense without repeating ourselves compared to previous seasons. But this is the principle of the series: we should not repeat ourselves, but you still have to find the world. This is intellectually. Fascinating work. Third season , in any case, there are paths to take that I really like.”
At the moment, the broadcast date of Hippocrates season 3 has not been announced, but the series should be released on Canal+ in 2024. Meanwhile, in theaters you’ll see Un Métier Serious, Thomas Lilte’s new film with Louise Bourgoin, Vincent Lacoste and Francois Clouzet.
