The Rio Festival announces the first films of the international programming; watch

The Rio Film Festival has announced the first international films that will be part of the 2023 edition, in the categories “Panorama of World Cinema”, “Expectativa”, “Première Latina” and “Midnight Movies”. The full program is expected to be revealed by the end of September.

The Festival will once again take place live in the city of Rio de Janeiro. As part of its programming, Première Brasil will present Brazilian films in competitive and non-competitive exhibitions. Classic international exhibitions such as Panorama do Cinema Mundial, Midnight Movies, Itinerários Únicos and others are also in the selection process.

The festival usually exhibits recently awarded works in Cannes, Berlin, Toronto and Venice, for example. In this edition the first international highlights are:

To complement the program, the famous Brazilian directors Heitor Dhalia and Karim Aïnouz will present the titles: “Invisíveis”, with Emeraude Toubia, Robin Lord Taylor and Andréa Beltrão; and “Firebrand,” starring Jude Law and Alicia Vikander.

Founded in 1999, the Festival do Rio was born from the combination of Mostra Banco Internacional and Rio Cine Festival. With more than two decades of existence, the festival has become one of the largest in Latin America, presenting more than seven thousand productions,

The 25th edition of the Rio Festival takes place from October 5 to 15 in person in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
