Fictional: “Outrageously funny”, this is the worst movie in the horror saga!

Grossing more than $2 billion at the international box office, the Conjuring saga is the highest-grossing horror franchise in cinema to date. Released in theaters on September 13, The Nonne 2 has already recorded $162 million on a budget of Rs 38 million.

While the films in the main Conjuring saga have been well-received by audiences, especially Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case, released in 2016, which scored a 4.1/5 rating, this is not always the case for the production films.

Thus, the spin-offs Annabelle (2014) and The Nun (2018) have an average audience rating of 2.1/5 stars on AlloCiné, making them the two lowest-rated films in the Conjuringverse.

Criticism didn’t stop the first film centered on the devil nun from grossing $365 million at the international box office and becoming the highest-grossing feature film in the franchise.

Note, however, that Annabelle was rated 7,007 times, while The Nonne was “only” rated 4,487 times and received the most negative reviews. It’s a movie about a creepy doll, which according to Internet users of AlloCiné is the worst movie in the Conjuring saga.

Annabel

Annabelle, the worst movie in the Conjuring saga

John R. Leonetti’s film, released in October 2014, a year after Conjuring: The Warren Files, is the first feature film to stem from the mother saga. It is a prequel to The Conjuring, as the Annabelle-centric film takes place 5 years before the doll finds herself locked up with Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga).

In this film, a young couple (Annabelle Wallis and Ward Horton) find a doll in a box when they thought they had gotten rid of it. Then scary paranormal events happen. They eventually escape, and six months later the woman buys a toy for her daughter, which we find at the beginning of the first Conjuring movie…

Like The Conjuring, the film is inspired by one of The Warrens’ files. According to the Warrens’ actual records, the doll was given to the little girl by her mother in the 1970s.

Made of cloth – not porcelain like in the movies – it moved and sent strange messages. One day he even tried to strangle someone.

To find out the mystery surrounding the doll, the Warrens were sent to the owners, and the latter did not hesitate to get rid of it. A couple of exorcists built a special closet and locked it there.

Too predictable jump scares?

With a budget of $6.5 million, Annabelle grossed $257 million worldwide. However, the feature film was considered disappointing compared to the first Conjuring film and was criticized for its lack of originality.

An Internet user regrets, for example, that the movie “It just happily pumps out a lot of information“while others judge them”jump scares“It’s too predictable to be effective.

Jorik V, a member of the AlloCiné Club, writes that if Annabelle is released.Thirty or forty years ago, at the time the film takes place“A feature film would undoubtedly have”It was considered a success of the horror genre“.

He adds “But in 2014, and especially after The Conjuring, whose offspring the film boasts, (…) scaring people with curtains, slamming doors, a sewing machine that turns itself on or exploding popcorn is outrageously funny..”

Annabel

However, for other viewers, the film remains good entertainment. For Freakin Geek, Annabelle is “Deviously effective and plays with the viewer’s nerves by immersing them in a particularly unsettling atmosphere.”

The feature film had two sequels: Annabelle 2: The Creation of Evil was released in 2017 and Annabelle – House of Evil was released in 2019, which this time is a sequel to Annabelle and The Conjuring. If you want to know everything about the chronological order of the Conjuringverse, it’s here.

Nun 2 – which takes place in the south of France in 1967 – is currently in cinemas. In Michael Chavez’s film, Sister Irene (Taisa Farmiga) calls on the church for help and must go to a boarding house in St. Lucia to face the demon Wallach once again.
