Nicolas Cage in your wildest dreams. It’s the plot of Christopher Borgle’s dream screenplay.
In this crazy feature film produced by independent studio A24, the actor – who is quick to shoot his own shadow – plays Paul Matthews, a father and university biology professor. The latter suddenly appears in other people’s dreams in a completely different way. Then Paul becomes a kind of star in social networks.
A pitch that the actor quickly identified with… In early September, while presenting the film at the Toronto International Film Festival, the actor explained that he felt very close to the character.
“It wasn’t a game for me because I felt like I had an experience after it happened to me. I woke up one morning and I was the star of a video montage that put together scenes from movies that make me angry. I think it was called ‘Nicolas Cage Loses His Fear’ “. Overnight it went viral all over the world. I was watching it and thinking, ‘What’s happening to me?’
The video views were growing exponentially and there was nothing I could do to stop it.”
then adds: “And it started turning into memes, with photoshop and t-shirts, and I was like, “I’ve got to do something.” Then I read the dream script and said to myself, “Now I can turn this into gold!”.”
Also starring Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera and Lily Bird, the feature film opens in US theaters on November 10. In France, the date is not yet known.
Nicolas Cage Also soon to appear in Butcher’s Crossing, where he plays Miller, a mysterious buffalo hunter who accompanies young Harvard graduate Will Andrews (Fred Hechinger) on a legendary buffalo hunt. Adapted from the work of John Williams, a western reminiscent of the Oscar-winning The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio.
