Guillermo del Toro almost made a Star Wars movie! This is David S. Goyer, to whom we owe the superhero scripts for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Man of Steel, and who collaborated with del Toro on Blade 2 and The Cabinet of Curiosities, spilled the beans.
I wrote a Star Wars movie that ultimately didn’t get made, a movie that Guillermo del Toro would have directed.says David S. Goyer During the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “That was about four years ago.”
A lot was happening behind the scenes at Lucasfilm at the time. The American screenwriter continues. “The script I wrote was cool…you should ask Guillermo about this project. Very cool work created for the occasion.”
The journalist of the Happy Sad Confused podcast didn’t even need to ask Guillermo del Toro to talk about this topic: the Mexican filmmaker took care of it himself on social networks!
“That’s right. I can’t say much about this movie”Says the man who recently expressed an interesting opinion about artificial intelligence and hit the Hollywood industry. “Or maybe the letters J and BB.”
true I can’t say much. Maybe the two letters “J” and “BB” are the three letters? https://t.co/qpGaSD3y7F

The letters J and BB? After this very annoying Guillermo del Toro tease, we can only imagine that BB-8 the robot could have been a part of this aborted intergalactic adventure. And that the letter J could correspond to the character of the criminal Jabba the Hutt, for whom a spin-off was once mentioned. But we may never know that…
Note that during the same interview, David S. Goyer revealed that he was working on a second Star Wars project “About the origins of the Jedi and set 25,000 years before the first film in the saga.” A project with which he is no longer associated and which is now in the hands of James Mangold, who owes us the latest adventure of Indiana Jones.
Three Star Wars films are currently in development. The first, slated for release in May 2026, will be a sequel to The Rise of Skywalker and will see Daisy Ridley return as Rey, who tries to restore order to the Jedi. The second, expected in December of the same year, will focus on the New Republic and close the interconnected stories of The Mandalorian, the Boba Fett book, and the Ahsoka series. The third, finally, in theaters in late 2027, will be the famous James Mangold movie mentioned above.
