In an interview with The Messenger (ComingSoon), Sicario saga producers Basil Ivanic and Erica Lee confirmed that a third film is still in the works with Benicio del Toro.
According to Erica LeeThe film was being written when the writers’ strike began in May 2023: “It was “put your pens down” but the idea is brilliant“.
Basil Ivanyk added: “Can’t wait to see Sicario 3. I can watch Benicio play this guy forever. I mean, I can watch Benicio in anything, but he doesn’t age with this character.“
The SICARIO franchise
Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune), first Sicario Released in 2015. Starring Emily Blunt Benicio del ToroStarring Josh Brolin, Daniel Kaluuya, and Jon Bernthal, the film grossed $85 million worldwide (against a $30 million budget) and earned Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Sound Editing.
Sicario The Cartel Wars followed in 2018.
