Expendables 4: Director explains absence of Antonio Banderas

Antonio Banderas played Galgo in The Expendables 3 (2014)

Released on September 21, 2023 in Brazilian cinemas, The Expendables 4 features the return of well-known names from the franchise, such as Sylvester Stallone (barney ross), Jason Statham (LeeChristmas) It is Dolph Lundgren (Gunnar Jensen), but has the absence of Antonio Banderasinterpreter of Greyhound.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, Scott Waughdirector of the fourth film in the franchise, commented on the actor’s reasons for not being in the cast and the decision behind the creation of Galanplayed by Jacob Scipio. Agenda was what made it impossible for people to participate. Flags.

“Look, the availability of actors is always difficult when you have so many celebrities,” said the filmmaker. “So this character was originally written for Antonio, but Antonio’s availability didn’t allow him to appear in the film.”

“So I didn’t want to get rid of that dialogue and that character because it was the quintessence of comedic moments,” he continued. Waugh. “And then we had the idea of, ‘What if it’s his son?’ And so we could still have the same vibe as Antonio, but a little different.”

He’s not replicating Antonio. So that’s when Jacob Scipio came in and really brought the character to life. And I think he does a great job in the film.
