The plot of the film is set in the future and is about the car mechanic Gray (Logan Marshall-Green), who gets into a car accident with his wife Asha (Melanie Vallejo), after which his beloved is killed by gangsters. Gray’s life is saved by a mysterious client who implants him with a new type of computer chip called STEM.
However, the technically advanced miracle cure soon turns into a nightmare in which the main character must wage war on his own body.

Director Leigh Whannell, who co-wrote the screenplay for the first Saw film, felt he had done a job well executed on a budget of just $5 million.
