Sandy and Lucas Lima talk about their separation in “Altas Horas”: “We suffer, we cry”

Sandy and Lucas Lima were present on TV Globo’s “Altas Horas” program on Saturday evening (30/9), making their first public appearance after announcing the end of their 15-year marriage. At that moment they both reflected on the decision and how they are dealing with this new phase of their lives.

“It’s not strange for us to be here”

Sandy began the conversation by addressing the particular atmosphere that emerged after the announcement. “It’s not an easy thing to do, there’s a lot of… no one knows how to behave, we’re like: oh my God, now what? Everyone’s watching and waiting how we’re going to do it, they” she’ll say… It’s strange . But there is a friendship, an intimacy, a love that has lasted for 24 years, and this will never change. For him and me it’s not strange at all that we are here. We love each other very much, we are best friends and we will continue to be so,” said the singer, who also highlighted the importance of her 9-year-old son Theo as “the materialization of this love”.

“Love just gives new meaning”

Lucas Lima, for his part, explained that the decision to separate was something he had been considering for some time. “We’ve been talking for a long time. A decision we made a long time ago. We needed to organize ourselves internally and organize Theo, organize our family, so that we had the resources to bring this news to the world,” he said. He also stressed that the process was long and involved many conversations. “It’s uncomfortable to do, an intimate thing, but we understand that sooner or later this too will have to be part of the world. Love just gives a new meaning,” he added.

Both agreed not to allow the relationship to reach a point of emotional exhaustion. Lucas Lima explained: “We talked a lot, even with other friends. And we saw that what we felt is not uncommon, many people feel it. And it is very difficult for us to be able to end a relationship in a place like this. Generally, people end up having to take and wear down this relationship to the point of anger, of struggle, and use it as fuel to make a decision.

“The family remains”

Regarding the former couple’s current emotional state, Sandy was emphatic: “It’s very difficult, we suffer, we cry. We have better days and worse days.” Lucas Lima complemented Sandy’s take, stating, “It’s nice that we can help each other. She’s been my best friend for 24 years and that doesn’t break.” He concluded by stating that there is “partnership in this too, there is maturity and serenity, company and a lot of love. The family remains and is the best of all”.

The professional partnership also remains. Sandy revealed that they will both continue to work together and have shows scheduled in Lisbon, Porto, Dublin and London in early October.
