Joia do Timão has stood out in the last few games

The Catalan newspaper “Sport” underlined on its cover, this Sunday morning (1), Barcelona’s interest in the young Gabriel Moscardo, of Corinthians. According to reports, the Catalan club has the midfielder as one of the main targets for the next transfer window.
Moscardo, who turned 18 on September 28, is one of the wishes of Deco, Barça’s new sporting director. The Portuguese-Brazilian president understands that the boy would be a great figure in the team’s playing style and fits the profile of the player wanted for his role. The current squad of culés has only one defensive midfielder: Oriol Romeu, signed in the European summer from Girona.
To successfully complete the negotiation, Barcelona will have to hurry, given that other European clubs are also interested in the athlete. One of these is Chelsea, who are ahead and have already sent a proposal of 21 million euros, but have received a negative response from Timão.
A target of the Old Continent since his youth days at Corinthians, Moscardo has made just 15 appearances for the professionals. Previously, when he was Under 20, he had been the subject of an offer from the Catalans to play in the B team, but the negotiation was held up by the Europeans’ problems with financial fair play.

Seizing opportunities with Vanderlei Luxemburgo – sacked this week – in the first team, the central defender has conquered the starting line-up and shown some great football. Gabriel should take the field, after being disqualified in the first leg, in the return match against Fortaleza, in the semi-final of the Copa Sudamericano.
