Everything about the categories of Mr Olympia Brasil Expo 2023

Among the various competition categories, one of the most noteworthy is Classic Physique.

The Mr. Olympia Brasil Expo 2023 will take place from 27 to 29 October, at the Pro Magno Centro de Eventos, in Sao Paulo (SP), and promises to bring together a contingent of athletes that will surpass the milestone of a thousand participants.

Among the various competition categories, one of the most noteworthy is Classic Physique.

In the Classic Physique category the athletes, who must have considerable muscle volume, go on stage wearing only a swimsuit and perform specific poses, strictly defined by the rules established for the category.

In this scenario one of the best known names internationally is Ramon Dino from Acre.

Ramon Dino is widely recognized as one of the best athletes in the world in his category and is considered a strong candidate for the title of Mr. Olympia 2023, which will take place in November, in Orlando (USA).

In 2018 he had already won the Mr. Olympia Brasil champion title in the amateur category.

Ramon Dino currently occupies second place in the world rankings, behind only the Canadian Chris Bumstead, also known as Cbum.

Tamer El Guindy, CEO of Musclecontest, the company responsible for promoting Mr. Olympia around the world and organizing the event in Brazil in collaboration with Savaget Promoções & Eventos, emphasizes that to reach the level of success of athletes like Ramon Dino and Cbum, competitors must participate in the national events and win one of the 21 Pro Cards that will be distributed during the Mr. Olympia Brasil Expo.

In the Men’s Physique category, athletes are judged wearing shorts and leg muscles are not a factor in the judging.

The main criterion is the presentation of a V-shaped physical structure, characterized by a thin waist and broad shoulders, with fewer poses than in the elite categories.

The Bodybuilding category is recognized as the “heaviest” in bodybuilding, allowing athletes to achieve their desired weight, with evaluation based on criteria such as volume, symmetry and body proportion.

Among the female categories, the competition begins with the Bikini category, which requires a slimmer physical structure. In Wellness, which emphasizes the development of the buttocks, the volume of the quadriceps and the back of the thighs is also an important point.

In the Figure category, characterized by a greater number of poses on stage, it is necessary to have a more developed backbone. In Women’s Physique the focus is on general muscle development, while in the Bodybuilding category, as for men, a presentation with a large muscle volume is required, this being the category that requires the most training time.

Gustavo Gama, a journalist specializing in bodybuilding, underlines that the Mr. Olympia Brasil Expo is an event of great importance, which offers the opportunity for three amateur athletes in each category to become professionals, bringing the name of Brazil to the international scene.

Event activities will begin Friday, October 27, with athlete weigh-ins at 10 a.m. On Saturday 28 October the Figure and Men’s Physique professionals will compete for the title from 1pm to 5pm, while the Classic Physique competition is scheduled for Sunday 29 October at the same time.

On Saturday, the first presentations will be by amateur representatives from Women’s Physique, Bodybuilding, Figure and Classic Physique, starting at 10am. On Sunday, again starting at 10 am, amateurs in the Bikini, Wellness and Men’s Physique categories will compete. Furthermore, the world championships in power biceps and bench press will be held on 28 October, while the deadlift will take place on 29 October.
