Back to work! Which productions are returning this week after the strike

The U.S. screenwriters’ strike, which began in May 2023, recently ended and Hollywood is resuming operations. Now it is known which script and production rooms will return to operation starting this Monday (02).

Among the series in the list published by the site are those that resume activities from this Monday (02) – “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Family Guy” and “The Simpsons”, for example – and those that return this week, but without established date (for example: “Yellow Jacket”, “Law & Order” and “Abate Elementary”).

End of the writers’ strike

The screenwriters’ union (WGA) announced last Tuesday (26) that it had unanimously accepted the agreement proposed by the studios.

The deal was previously accepted by the WGA on the evening of September 24, in a meeting with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

On Tuesday, the Negotiating Committee and the Western and Eastern WGA Councils recommended that its 11,000 members accept the deal. The general vote will take place between this Monday and October 9th.

Among the writers’ demands was regulation of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in productions. On the one hand, the union has called for legislation so that artificial intelligence cannot be used to write or adapt any material. On the other hand, the AMPTP required annual meetings to discuss the advancement of the technology and its use in project development.
