Ingredients OAT CRUMBLE (STREUSEL) – CRISPY SWEET FAROFA

– 55 g cold unsalted butter, plus a little for greasing.

– 1/2 cup(s) demerara sugar (or sugar)

– 1/2 cup(s) of wheat flour

– 1/2 cup(s) oat bran

– salt to taste (pinch).

– nutmeg to taste, grated. (optional)

– 1 teaspoon(s) of chemical yeast

– 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla essence (or almond essence)

– 1 unit of egg, just the yolk, to finish.

Ingredients TO ACCOMPANY

– ice cream to taste (optional)

– apple to taste, roasted (optional)

– banana to taste, roasted

PREPARATION:

  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

PREPARATION:

Crumble with oats, FAROFA (sweet):

  1. Cut the cold butter into cubes.
  2. In a bowl, place the other STREUSEL ingredients (demerara sugar, flour, oats, chemical yeast, vanilla or almond essence, salt, nutmeg (optional)) except the egg yolks.
  3. Mix well with your hands, breaking up the butter so that it blends into the whole mixture.
  4. Add the egg yolk(s), one at a time, continuing to mix with your fingertips until a moist, crumbly crumble forms.
  5. To serve as a crumble, grease a mold and flour it, roll it out well and cook it in a preheated oven.
  6. With the same preparation the “Crumble Pie” is made, in which the fruits are placed in a mold and the crumble is placed on top. You can do this with various fruits!

CRUMBLE, the sweet crumble, to cook:

  1. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes or until the farofa is golden and crispy. You can even poke it and hear the little noise, it’s so crunchy.
  2. Leave to cool to room temperature.
  3. Break into smaller pieces: The size of the pieces may vary depending on how you prepare them.

FINALIZATION AND ASSEMBLY:

  1. Store oat crumble at room temperature, covered in an airtight container, if serving as FAROFA.
  2. Serve with ice cream, toasted fruit and other desserts of your choice.
