Ingredients OAT CRUMBLE (STREUSEL) – CRISPY SWEET FAROFA
– 55 g cold unsalted butter, plus a little for greasing.
– 1/2 cup(s) demerara sugar (or sugar)
– 1/2 cup(s) of wheat flour
– 1/2 cup(s) oat bran
– salt to taste (pinch).
– nutmeg to taste, grated. (optional)
– 1 teaspoon(s) of chemical yeast
– 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla essence (or almond essence)
– 1 unit of egg, just the yolk, to finish.
Ingredients TO ACCOMPANY
– ice cream to taste (optional)
– apple to taste, roasted (optional)
– banana to taste, roasted
PREPARATION:

- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
PREPARATION:
Crumble with oats, FAROFA (sweet):
- Cut the cold butter into cubes.
- In a bowl, place the other STREUSEL ingredients (demerara sugar, flour, oats, chemical yeast, vanilla or almond essence, salt, nutmeg (optional)) except the egg yolks.
- Mix well with your hands, breaking up the butter so that it blends into the whole mixture.
- Add the egg yolk(s), one at a time, continuing to mix with your fingertips until a moist, crumbly crumble forms.
- To serve as a crumble, grease a mold and flour it, roll it out well and cook it in a preheated oven.
- With the same preparation the “Crumble Pie” is made, in which the fruits are placed in a mold and the crumble is placed on top. You can do this with various fruits!
CRUMBLE, the sweet crumble, to cook:
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes or until the farofa is golden and crispy. You can even poke it and hear the little noise, it’s so crunchy.
- Leave to cool to room temperature.
- Break into smaller pieces: The size of the pieces may vary depending on how you prepare them.
FINALIZATION AND ASSEMBLY:
- Store oat crumble at room temperature, covered in an airtight container, if serving as FAROFA.
- Serve with ice cream, toasted fruit and other desserts of your choice.
