Bernadette Chirac: Is Catherine Deneuve’s movie good? Viewers have their say

Released in theaters on October 4, Bernadette is director Lea Domenach’s first feature film. Catherine Deneuve dressed up as the famous wife of former president Jacques Chirac.

When she arrives at the Elysée, Bernadette expects to finally take the place she deserves, one who has always worked in her husband’s shadow to make him president. Abandoned because she was considered too old-fashioned, Bernadette decided to take revenge and became an important media figure.

Did this intense behind-the-scenes comedy of Jacques Chirac’s two mandates convince AlloCiné viewers? With an average rating of 3.7 out of 5 stars (out of 254 ratings as of today), Bernadette is currently among the best Catherine Deneuve movies to come out in recent years.

“Finally a great French comedy! It’s funny and looks good from start to finish, the cast is very good and awards go to the great Catherine Deneuve who excels in this role”Rated by Mark C.

“I was going to watch this movie without much expectation and what a pleasant surprise it was. Delicate, funny, good, exciting, nostalgic… this movie feels good!”Entrusted by Benjamin Curat.

DENEUVE MAGISTRALE

“I loved this movie. Deneuve is masterful. Well written, funny, spicy and really very successful. Bravo”Fan de Cine 75 announces.

Bernadette is for Aitor Alfonso “Big, good and popular comedy! English-style humor and a very successful political class in France at the end of the 20th century. A film that is a funny mural of the 90s-2000s. Catherine Deneuve, Denis. Podalides, Sarah Giraud and Laurent Stoker are excellent. Watch again and again. Movie of the moment.”

In turn, VeroniqueL invites “A beautiful, funny and intelligent film served by a dream cast! I laughed a lot when I admired the political animal that was Mrs. Chirac. We forget that she studied like her husband and wrote theses. A woman from another era who knew How to renew oneself with incredible modernity.”

Anniversary

“Delighted! Amazing laugh out loud throughout the session, it does a lot of good! The characters are well portrayed and the actors, Deneuve in the lead role, are at their best”According to Michelle F.

Claudine G is a bit more nuanced on film. “In this chaotic period, I don’t mind a smile, to say the least, but I expected something more politicized. The film is not bad, but the family side is a bit too topical. Bernadette, who wakes up, is a big cliché. Personally, I was not impressed, I don’t remember Bernadette Chirac in the side Nicolas Sarkozy on the podium. To say the least, it’s a disturbed time to see.”

Finally, according to Mathieubelmont 39, “The film completely misses its theme. Disastrous acting; Catherine Deneuve seems to wonder what she’s doing in this mess. Goosebumps. Avoid. Too bad, the theme was promising on paper.”
