Even looking for a result after the defeat against Flamengo, coach Mano Menezes was not satisfied with a draw. However, the coach liked Corinthians’ position in Saturday’s match (7), at the Neo Química Arena.

– I’m not satisfied with the result, but I’m satisfied with the team’s behavior. We were better positioned. Defensively already much better positioned. We faced a team with a lot of quality, with good movements and you always expect something different from them and my team performed better and offered fewer chances. From then on you will suffer less. There are a series of things to improve, but this is the way forward – said the coach in the post-match press conference.

Mano highlighted that the quality of the opponent highlights Corinthians’ improvement in this weekend’s clash.

– It’s not just behavior. We need to combine this with conditions for better play. We played against a team with a lot of movement. We have to be careful, we did well in some moments, but we made mistakes in many others. The way forward is to work hard during this break and we will improve after this training period.

With this result Corinthians maintains its distance from the relegation zone, which is four points. And this will not change, regardless of the result of the match between Palmeiras and Santos this Sunday (8), given that Bahia, Goiás and Vasco have already entered the field in this round.

In any case, Mano Menezes states that Timão is not discussing the possibility of joining Z4.

– We haven’t talked about this relegation zone with the players because it’s not our issue. The ones talking about relegation are those from Z4, and the team has been out for some time. But it is obvious that we need to improve the goal percentage. One point out of six isn’t enough, but sometimes it’s not the worst thing, because it can give you the consistency to aim for more.

Corinthians will return to the field after 11 days, due to the stoppage of Brazilian football due to the FIFA dates. The next duel will be against Fluminense, on August 18, in Rio de Janeiro, for the 27th matchday of the Brasileirão. The time without matches will be important for the coach to give the team more face.

– Every day we will work to improve the general problems of the team. We suffered a bit in recovery, when the ball goes back and forth we lose positioning, both offensively and defensively. The team has to cover distances faster and this is possible. There is a change of pace in this and training every day makes you gain a better condition, the team needs this work and the players are thirsty for this, for this information and that is what we will give to the team – underlined Mano.

Mano Menezes played only his second match in charge of Corinthians in the current term and is yet to win. The first was on Tuesday (3), when Timão was defeated by Fortaleza, in the match in which they were eliminated by Conmebol Sul-Americana. His debut would have taken place in the classic against San Paolo, on October 1st, but being disqualified for accumulating cards, since he managed Internacional, he was disqualified, and Corinthians was led by assistant Sidnei Lobo.
