Threads set your screen up with Twitter-style trending topics

Threads is preparing a new feature to include the main topics currently discussed on the platform

OR Discussions prepare an option to show trending topics on the social network. The new screen has the same format as the “trending topics” of Twitter and was accidentally leaked by one of the app’s developers Objective.

• Thread accounts can be deleted individually from December
• Threads now allow for quick switching between different profiles in the app

The information was revealed by Brazilian designer Willian Max on the social network, who found the print accidentally published by one of Meta’s engineers. The original content was supposed to be posted privately and was later deleted, but the screenshot remained.

In the image you can see a list of some of the most discussed topics on Threads, followed by the number of related publications. The ranking does not show the number of posts in descending order and it is not yet possible to find out how the method works for deciding what appears at the top.

Most of the examples listed involve terms related to music, sports, and television series. Since the app doesn’t yet support hashtags, it’s likely that the area will only show general themes at first.

And what’s new?

It is worth monitoring how the approach will be with the presence of new things in the role, such as the The network has already avoided topics considered sensitive, such as vaccination against Covid-19. Since launch, Threads is promoted as “a less angry conversation space” from the head of InstagramAdam Mosseri, in response to rival Twitter’s use for news coverage and political discussion.
