Tite introduces himself to Flamengo at Ninho do Urubu

The new commander is already at Flamengo: Tite arrived at the club on Tuesday morning. The coach showed up at the start of work at Ninho do Urubu and posed for a photo wearing the Rubro-Negro shirt.

“Good morning, Nation! Tite, Mengão’s new coach, is already at Ninho do Urubu!”, Flamengo underlined via social media.

After weeks of negotiations, the former Brazilian national team coach signed a contract until December 2024. The main objective is to secure Flamengo in the Libertadores and form a strong team to fight for titles next year.

“Pride. It’s a very big responsibility, a professional challenge. The structure allows all the quality of work possible at a high level, just as Flamengo demands. I hope to do this work together,” the coach said.

“That I have the ability of Tite as a professional, but rather of Ademir as a person, to be able to represent them. This is the dignity, strength and work so that we can deserve success and be better than others, this is the goal. A hug! “, he added.

Known names

The new commander’s technical committee will include assistants Matheus Bachi, Cléber Xavier and César Sampaio, who also worked with Tite in the national team. The physical trainer, Fábio Mahseredjian, and the performance analyst, Lucas Oliveira, will also be part of the team.

Responsible for leading Brazil to the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, Tite arrives at Flamengo to replace Jorge Sampaoli, who was fired last month. Mário Jorge, coach of the Under 20s, was in charge of Rubro-Negro until the arrival of the new commander.

The 62-year-old coach will lead the Rio team into the final phase of the Brazilian championship, in which they occupy fifth place, 11 points behind leader Botafogo. The Rossoneri team have not won any titles this season and have lost five finals in 2023.

Tite returns to lead a Brazilian football team after seven years. The coach’s last commitment with the teams was at Corinthians, in two periods, from 2010 to 2013 and from 2015 to 2016, where he won two Brazilian championships, one Libertadores and one World Cup.

Before the agreement with Flamengo, Tite had also been considered at Corinthians, after Sao Paulo announced the departure of Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Timão, however, received no signs of interest from the coach and arranged for the arrival of Mano Menezes.

Tite’s probable debut as Flamengo’s new commander will be against Cruzeiro, this Thursday, in Mineirão. However, if the coach does not regularize himself in time, his first match should be in the classic against Vasco, at the Maracanã, on the 22nd of this month.
