Following the success of Terminator 1 and 2 directed by James Cameron, C-2 Pictures acquired the rights to the franchise and simultaneously developed two new installments. Released in 2003, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines takes place during the first battle between Skynet and humans. Six years later, the fourth episode titled Terminator Renaissance takes place in the future.

To a lesser extent, the special effects have the merit of serving the story, which focuses on famous robots during intense action scenes.
