Mirassol beats ABC away from home and closes the gap with G4 in Serie B

This Tuesday, ABC-RN x Mirassol opened the 32nd round of the Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. In Frasqueirão, Natal, Mirassol beat the hosts 2-1: Zé Roberto and Negueba scored for San Paolo, while Thonny Anderson scored for the hosts.

With this result, Mirassol, which achieved its fourth consecutive victory, scores 52 points and is in seventh place, two points behind Guarani, the last team in the G4. On the other hand, ABC continues to be at the bottom, and remains with 20 points.

Both teams will return to action next week. On Thursday, ABC will visit Atlético-GO, at the Antônio Accioly Stadium, in Goiânia, at 7pm (Brasilia time). On Friday, Mirassol hosts Guarani, at 9.30pm, at the José Maria de Campos Maia Stadium.

Mirassol didn’t have to do much to open the scoring against the bottom team in Serie B. The home team took the lead in the 9th minute of the first half. After a play with Negueba, Gabriel crossed into the box for Zé Roberto, who passed it to Chico Kim and received the free ball to score.

At 20, Mirassol’s team increased the score. Chico Kim played for Negueba on the edge of the area and the number 11 cleared the play and finished into Michael’s corner. ABC also tried to react and had chances with Paulo Sérgio and Habraão. In the 39th minute, Alex Muralha appears to save Mirassol with an ABC free kick.

Before 20 minutes of the second half, Mirassol almost scored the third goal due to an error by Michael. After a long shot from Chico Kim, the goalkeeper got into trouble and almost missed the shot. ABC reduced the score in the 28th minute. Thonny Anderson finished, Muralha made a partial save, but released the ball into the area and the midfielder himself had the surplus and filled the net.

Shortly afterwards Walysson almost equalised, but Muralha saved. With ABC looking for an equalizer, the Mirassol goalkeeper returned to work a few minutes later to save Matheus Anjos’ shot.
