July 21, 2010: Christopher Nolan’s new movie Inception hits theaters. With an excellent cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, more tortured than ever, and Tom Hardy, who the filmmaker discovered and adored in Guy Ritchie, the filmmaker’s sci-fi thriller was a hit in French cinemas.
More than 4.9 million viewers left their darkened rooms with their brains on fire, still searching for answers that some of them didn’t get until later. Most recently, the filmmaker returned to this ending, which sent moviegoers crazy all over the world.
Internationally, the film’s success was equally impressive, with more than 829 million green larks. As ever, Nolan was an authentic martingale and a fetish for his official producer and distributor, Warner Bros. At least with the latter due to deep disagreements before the divorce, which ended with Nolan leaving to release his film Oppenheimer under the auspices of Universal.

In fact, the actor’s involvement was much deeper, starting with the script: he actually asked to rewrite it several times.
