Actor Tom Hardy, who recently started working on Marvel movies, is now known worldwide for his performances in The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road and Venom.
But remember early in his career, Americans had trouble understanding that he played a villain in the sci-fi movie Star Trek: Nemesis?
In his memoirs entitled Making it soPatrick Stewart, who played Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Nemesis, recalls his collaboration with Tom Hardy. For Charles Xavier of the X-Men saga, there was no chance that the young Brit would break into the world of the Seventh Art.
“In Star Trek: Nemesis, I didn’t have a single interesting scene to play.”Patrick Stewart laments The comment was reported by Digital Spy. “The actor who played the villain in the film was a strange, lonely young man from London. His name was Tom Hardy. He didn’t talk to anyone.”
“He never said hello, never said goodbye. And he spent time in the locker room with his girlfriend.” Continues Patrick Stewart, who recently reprized his role as Picard in the third and final season of the series under his character name. “He wasn’t hostile at all, it was just a real challenge to get along with him.”
“On the evening of the last day of filming, he walked out the door without saying a word.”concludes the 83-year-old actor. “As the door was closing, I cautiously said to the other actors, ‘Here’s someone we’ll never hear from again.’ Well, I’m glad she proved me wrong!”
Tom Hardy will soon star in Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders, about the rise of a fictional Midwestern motorcycle club. A French release date has yet to be announced.
