The Exorcist: The Devoteeindirect sequel to the horror classic The Exorcistdirected by William Friedkin (1935-2023) and released 50 years ago, opens in Brazilian cinemas starting this Thursday, October 12th.
In history, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr., Hamilton) is a widower, who takes care of his daughter alone, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls), twelve years ago. After leaving the girl and her friend, katherine (Olivia O’Neill), disappear from school and return three days later, with no memory of what happened, he needs to confront evil.
Desperate to save his daughter’s life, Victor goes after the only person alive who has witnessed something like this before: the actress Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn), who had his life changed forever by an episode with his daughter, Reagan (Linda Blair), five decades earlier. Watch the trailer:
Directed by David Gordon Green – in Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills – The Terror Continues (2021) and Halloween Ends (2022) -, The Exorcist: The Devoteeis the first chapter of a new trilogy based on the original film. The Exorcist: Deceiver (The Exorcist: The Deceiverin free translation), second chapter of the story, has already been confirmed and is scheduled to premiere in April 2025.
