“What do the screenwriters think?“, asked a netizen on Corrosive – the creators are determined to push the boundaries. A body that explodes, menstrual discharge that ends in a bloodbath and the list goes on…
Episode 4 even talks about the penis growing to the point of exploding. It’s clear that the writers of Gen V have two obsessions: gore and male penises. Showrunner Michele Fazekas confirms this variety :
“When I got to the show, after meeting Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg, I realized that the right people loved penises. They love to talk about it.“
In the very first episode, the male organ is already discussed. Emma’s character – who can shrink from vomiting – engages in a sexual act. At the request of her partner, Liam, she gets smaller in front of the penis. The sequence is both awkward and amusing.
Obviously, in front of such pictures, we wonder how it was taken. And contrary to popular belief, this giant penis was not entirely digitally created. The Gen V teams built a 1m50 penis. “It’s not really our style to make a penis with a visual effect,” says Eric Kripke, again for Variety.
On X (Twitter), Prime Video shared a photo from the shoot, Here is the discovery.
“When we were writing the pilot and this scene in particular, as surprising as it may seem, it was about respecting Emma Emma. The producer explains. About being pressured to do something sexual that she doesn’t want to do. And it costs him dearly.”
He follows: “It wasn’t for us to say that the penis exploded in “guys”, so we’re going to put a little person on the penis. We said to ourselves, “She’s going to get through this ordeal,” and it was a bold way for us to dramatize it..”
Gen V is available on Prime Video.
