On Saturday morning, the 14th, a group of 19 Brazilian refugees in a Catholic school in the Gaza Strip boarded a bus to cross the territory towards the south of the region, with the idea of ​​catching a plane at the border with Egypt. and return to Brazil safe and sound. The trip had been postponed due to new Israeli bombings in the Palestinian region. This morning the Brazilians arrived to load the bus with their luggage, but had not received authorization from Israel, via the Brazilian embassy in Palestine, to make the journey safely.

The bus has been accompanying the Brazilians since the night of Friday the 13th. When they found themselves without Israeli approval, the recommendation was that everyone return to the refuge.

Until now, around 8 am Brasilia time, they were released to continue the journey. They left the refuge in northern Gaza and will be taken to the city of Khan Younes. From there they will cross the border into Egypt, in Rafah. The journey should take about two hours.

Tension intensifies as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) directs all people from the Gaza Strip to leave the region and head to the south of the Palestinian enclave by 4 p.m. local time – 10 a.m. :00 Brasilia time. There is speculation that the Israeli army will launch a land offensive.
