Goalkeeper Ivan and defender Raul Gustavo lead the line of players borrowed from Timão who will be evaluated for 2024
In addition to the future of the nine players whose contracts are expiring that make up the Corinthians squad, coach Mano Menezes and Timão’s new president will have to decide which loan players will be used or exchanged as part of the team’s reformulation for 2024.
At the beginning of the season, the Corinthians management loaned goalkeeper Ivan until the end of 2023 with a trigger to activate an obligation to buy. However, the goalkeeper will not reach his goal – playing at least 30 games with Vasco – and will return to Timão.
With a contract until the end of 2024, Ivan will fight for a position with Matheus Donelli and Carlos Miguel for Cássio’s place. Carlos Miguel received requests from Europe in the last transfer window and could be sold in January.
Defender Raul Gustavo is also tied to Corinthians until the end of 2024 and is on loan at Bahia until the rest of the season. Raul underwent knee surgery in March, has lost space in the Tricolor de Aço but could be used by Timão in 2024 due to the low number of defenders in the squad.
Midfielder Luis Mandaca, on loan at Juventude, could also strengthen the team next year. With three goals, the 22-year-old athlete is one of the flagships of the Rio Grande do Sul team, but he suffered a muscle injury that ended his streak as a starter.
Léo Santos (Ceará), Jonathan Cafú (Cuiabá) and Rodrigo Varanda (América-MG) are also on loan, but their contracts are close to expiring and are not expected to be renewed by the new board.
Finally, striker Eduardo Tanque, on loan at Aimoré and with Timão until the end of 2024, and Léo Natel, on loan at Melbourne City until June 2024, are not expected to be used by Corinthians.
